About this Campaign
What is the campaign?
I would like to be able to create a STEAM station for our kindergarten team. This station would include building, art, engineering, and math and science materials such as: legos, blocks, gears, magnetic tiles, math manipulatives and challenges, art supplies, washers, pipe cleaners, etc.
Imagine the possibilities and learning that can happen when students are given the time to explore and challenge themselves by creating or finding a solution to a problem. They are in charge of their learning and can do so much on their own when given the opportunity to dig in and get a hands on experience.
What is STEAM?
STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) is all around us. It is in understanding the weather, using computers to do our jobs successfully, the building of roads and bridges, the creativity in art pieces we see every day(paintings, movies, music), and the math we use daily from complicated equations to spending money on groceries.
Education in STEAM helps to bridge gaps. There are gaps in science, math, and technology fields among people of color and women. Educators work hard to close these gaps and STEAM education is one way to close the gaps.
Who is the campaign for?
The materials for this campaign will help all kindergarten students at Kenmore Elementary.
