About this Campaign
Eagles on the RUN is a very popular after school club at English Landing Elementary School. ANY student (Kindergarten through Fifth Grade) is encouraged to participate. At the conclusion of the school year, it is our goal for ALL students to have the opportunity to run in a community race. This year we selected Sophie's Run which will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2020. Many of our students would not ever be able to participate in a community-run like this due to the financial constraints with the enrollment fee. HELP ALL of our students (Eagles) be able to participate in this race! Thank you!
Why did English Landing select Sophie's Run? Sophie’s Run was organized to honor the life of Sophie Edwards, a citizen of Lake Waukomis and student of the Park Hill School District, who passed away April 29, 2010. Sophie's Run is a 5K-ish (3.4 mile) road race and features a serene setting with rolling hills and a beautiful finish on the dam with US flags soaring overhead and a refreshing water view. It features an awesome community that cheers you on at every turn and a wonderful group of volunteer citizens who help make this race an organized and fun event. It is a great family event featuring children's entertainers, children's activities, a kid's dash, and team competition. The fundraising we do benefits children in surrounding communities to assist them in obtaining technology that will help them in school and in life. Our goal is to provide children who have special needs with the means to more effectively communicate. Park Hill School District has documented the work being done in the classrooms with Assistive Technology Devices donated to the Assistive Technology Library in the District.
