About this Campaign
At Anderson, we are a proud community that believes in the purpose of students, exceptional teachers, and demonstrated outcomes are all hallmarks of Anderson. Anderson school is a place with a deep commitment to student learning, where faculty nourish the intellectual, moral, emotional, and social growth of every student. It is a place where students, teachers, and families embark together on an academic journey with clear and well-defined objectives. It is filled with the joy of discovery and the excitement of personal challenge and growth. We are a community dedicated to developing strength of character and excellence in all dimensions of its students' lives. And it is a place that has a distinctive and lasting impact upon all our students and educators.
Our talented faculty are dedicated in their disciplines with a deep commitment to student success; they truly get to know each child, providing the challenge, support, and encouragement that fosters learning and personal growth. Our rigorous program of inquiry and study empowers students to exercise their intellectual curiosity, expand their understanding, and develop critical skills for future success. And our emphasis on character and values challenges each student to be a person of integrity, a contributing member of our school community, and a thoughtful and involved citizen of the world.
On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization designated the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic. In Pennsylvania, several steps have been initiated to mitigate the spread of the virus and protect residents. Measures taken within the city of Philadelphia include the closure of schools, and limiting of group gatherings. This has further widened the digital divide and education gaps for students in our great city.
Just this past week, the Philadelphia School Board voted to authorize $11 million dollars for the purchase of up to 50,000 computers to make distance learning possible for all students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The school system will now repurpose some existing Chromebooks for its 120,000-plus students, but still needs additional computers to place machines in the hands of all Philadelphia children. We'd like to challenge you to help us build a bridge to digital inclusion.
Nine women have come together to immediately help Add B. Anderson School students during this time of unprecedented change. We will be creating the #Philly$9.99challenge, a campaign to assist students and families that are in need now.
What will we be able to do with $9.99?
$9.99 can aid us in paying the monthly cost of internet services
$99.99 will help us support students after this current crisis possibly through graduation
Every $9.99 donation counts and will help our Philadelphia students, please help us achieve our goal of $11,000!
