About this Campaign

George Washington High School is a comprehensive high school in the Bustleton section of the Far Northeast of Philadelphia, (zip code 19116). Washington was established in 1962 and has a very storied history as one of the gems of Northeast Philadelphia. Over the last 60 years there have been many notable alumni that have walked the halls of Washington including professional football players, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, Emmy and Grammy winning writers, as well as actors and comedians - including Kevin Hart. Students at Washington come to us from over 70 different countries and speak over 40 different languages, making Washington one of the most diverse high schools in Philadelphia.

Being so diverse also means that students have different needs. Particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic, students are in need of extra supports especially ways to relieve stress. At Washington we believe that at the heart of success is hard work. After the pandemic, motivating students to succeed is becoming increasingly difficult. We also believe that if students work hard they should also be able to play hard as well. Our internal polling says that the majority of students would be motivated by spending time in a game room. We are asking for help to purchase games, furniture, and appliances for this game room so students can relax after acing an exam or finishing that big project. Students that use this room would have earned the privilege of using it. Help us bring back the FUN in FUNdamentals!
