About this Campaign
Empire Builders CLUB is a Partnership with Southeast Community College, LPS Career Academy and Culler Middle School. Culler has had the pleasure of working with the awesome people from SCC and TCA for the past two years. This is our third year with the program. We leave Culler around 3:20pm to travel to SCC/TCA. We provide a healthy snack for students on the bus. We are working with SCC/TCA staff and students for 2 hours then we return to Culler around 5:40pm.
We meet at SCC/TCA in the labs and work with Staff and Students from SCC. We will travel to local businesses to see how our lab experiences are utilized in technical careers. The focus of the Club is to provide students at Culler the opportunity to explore opportunities in Construction, CAD, Manufacturing, Electronics and other Technical Trades. It also provides students the opportunity to explore the Career Academy and begin to see a place for themselves in TCA classrooms. Students will design, create and build technical products while using the tools of the trade. They will experience a variety of SCC/TCA course offerings over 12 weeks.
Culler Middle School is a Title I School. Culler is the most diverse middle school in Lincoln as many cultures are reflected in our student population. There are currently 30 countries represented at Culler. Demographics include: 61% Minority Students, 25% Special Education Students, 13% Identified Gifted Students, and a 33% Mobility rate. Culler Middle School has the highest percentage of middle school students from under-represented groups in the Lincoln Public School District, with a total of 61% of students identifying as American Indian, African American, or Hispanic. Empire Builders provides an opportunity for students to explore careers in the technical field and see future filled with hope for themselves.
We need assistance for transportation to TCA/SCC and field trips to job sites, materials and supplies for students and families.
