About this Campaign

Chapter One of this campaign has been a great success!  Since August, over 300 East High students have helped spread the word about the importance of reading by building relationships with Everett Elementary students, building and painting three Little Free Library structures--one of which will be in the Everett neighborhood-- creating food for celebrations and brochures for community events and recommending books for the structures themselves.  This semester, we are adding Clinton Elementary School to the project and look forward to getting to know the Clinton Mustangs and their neighborhood.  A plan is also in the works to place our final Little Free Library in a Lincoln trailer court.  So far, funds have paid for building materials, brochures, food, book labels and the books themselves.  With 350 books still to buy, along with some additional structure materials and foods for upcoming celebrations, we could use a little extra financial help to see this terrific project to its successful end.  These additional funds will support the purchase hundreds of new board books, picture books and chapter books, which, in turn, will brighten the lives of children and families in the Clinton and Everett neighborhoods! Requesting $1000.00 plus cost reimbursement.

Update - Feb 19th, 2018 at 2:48PM

The East High Little Free Library project is humming along!  Our Woods students have nearly completed the three structures, our Art Club students are painting them, and English and Early Childhood classes are busy making book-title suggestions as we begin to purchase books for the two structures that will be in the Clinton neighborhood.

We are thrilled to announce that all three structures have now been adopted by Everett and Clinton neighborhood residents.  Over 200 books already have been purchased for the Everett structure (which will be at a home just across the street from the school).  Another 400 books will be purchased in the next few weeks for the Clinton structures, reflecting the interests, home languages and reading levels of Clinton Elementary School students.

East students and staff will continue to look for ways to connect with and get to know the Clinton and Everett students and their neighborhoods.  This relationship-building element is as important as the book-buying project itself.  We are grateful for the financial support of our Fund-a-Need donors.   Your help has made a great idea a reality!
