Your gift will put a copy of Mike Smith's Legacy vs. Likes in the hands of our 5th grade students attending Campbell Elementary, a Title 1 School located in Northwest Lincoln.
Mike Smith is a resident of Lincoln, a leader in our community, a motivating speaker, an advocate for youth, an author, visionary, and founder of The Bay. His life is about serving as many people as possible and having fun. Mike's work and connections to Lincoln, Nebraska, will model for our students that they too can be the kind of leader that opens opportunities for others through creative ideas and doing hard work.
The book, Legacy vs. Likes will be used to guide a leadership challenge where students discover the kind of person they wish to be and how they make their life and career follow. They will learn how to tune into their goals while ignoring distractions. Students will learn to evaluate the differences between leaders and influencers in both social media and in their physical surroundings. Students will know the motivations from which an influencer or a leader operates and make informed choices of whom to follow. This book study will help students to transition from elementary to middle school as they learn to focus on the relationships that add or multiply value and how to do little things that add up to make a big difference for themselves and others.  Requesting $1340.00 plus cost reimbursement.
