LPS Dance Teams Dance-A-Thon (Lincoln North Star Dazzlers)

The LPS Dance Teams Dance-A-Thon is back! Throughout the school year and during the summer months, dance teams for Lincoln Public Schools promote school spirit, pride, and community service through entertainment at various activities, including performances at varsity football and basketball games, pep rallies, dance competitions, and other events throughout the community. This summer, five of LPS's dance teams -- Lincoln East Apollonaires, Lincoln North Star Dazzlers, Lincoln Northeast Star Strutters, Lincoln Southeast Shirettes, and Lincoln Southwest Emeralds -- will combine forces to participate in a three-hour dance marathon to fundraise for each team's annual expenses for the year. Your monetary donation will help pay for various items such as dance tops and skirts, poms, jackets, shoes, dance camp, competition fees, and other various expenses that arise as being a part of an LPS dance team. A portion of the funds raised (20%) will also be donated to the Food Bank of Lincoln's Backpack Program, which provided food-filled backpacks to LPS students in need of food over the weekend.

Fundraising will take place July 1-July 24 at 4:00 p.m. If you are interested in supporting any of the dancers or the team or as a whole, please click on the "Donate" button on the page. Any donation would be a flat donation, not a per hour donation. You may donate any amount you wish (minimum donation is $10). Your donation can go towards a specific dancer on the team, but you must write the dancer's name in the "in honor of" line. Otherwise, the donation will go towards the entire team. If you wish to donate to more than one dancer on the team, please make separate donations for each dancer, as we cannot split donations among dancers. Consult with a tax adviser or the IRS to determine whether your gifts are tax deductible.

This is such a beneficial event. Not only does it help alleviate some of their annual expenses for the season, as well as raise money for an important LPS program, but it allows all the dancers to build camaraderie, gain experience, and showcase talent among one another, building a stronger dance community among the LPS high schools.
