Civil War Clothing for Students

At Lefler Middle School our 8th grade students bring history alive as they become Civil War soldiers, nurses, formerly enslaved people and women on the home front to tell the story of the Civil War.  Students complete research using primary sources, find a story to tell, work in groups to pull their research together and write a scripts, paint murals and build props.  The students all don costumes to tell their stories and put on an evening performance for families and community members. 

Through a previous Fund-A-Need, we purchased blue and gray jackets and sewed gold buttons on them to transform them into soldier's uniforms.  With this Fund-A-Need, we are asking for donations to purchase women's clothing to have more accurate clothing for the time period. Requesting $800 plus cost reimbursement.
