About this Campaign
The Campbell Elementary School Library is seeking up to $3,000 plus cost reimbursement to purchase additional Wonderbooks to enhance our small collection.
Wonderbooks are hardcover print books with ready-to-play audiobooks permanently bound to the inside cover. This allows students to listen to a narrator while they read along and comprehend the printed text. Standard print books can be intimidating for struggling readers so Wonderbooks are a welcomed change to the traditional book.
Campbell Elementary serves a diverse community where economic barriers often impact educational outcomes. As a Title I school, a significant percentage of our students come from low-income households where access to high-quality reading materials and technology may be limited.
About 28% of our population are English Learners. For students learning English, hearing the rhythm, intonation, and phrasing of the language is vital. Audiobooks provide a perfect model of fluent reading, helping students understand how punctuation and emotion translate into spoken word.
As a Title I school with a significant population of students learning English our library is dedicated to providing equitable access to literacy tools that bridge the gap between decoding and comprehension. By donating to this campaign, you are able to help support all readers by providing an accessible, multisensory reading experience that builds vocabulary, fluency, and reading confidence. Thank you for your consideration.
