About this Campaign

We are requesting funding to provide high-quality headphones for all eighth-grade classrooms. These headphones will support text-to-speech accommodations for our diverse learners.

This year, we converted our 8th-grade literature books to PDF format so students in our Special Education program can use text-to-speech tools. The math department also added a feature to the Synergy portal that lets students listen to their math tests read aloud. Thanks to these digital resources, as well as other computer accessible texts in their classes, students can access the curriculum on an equal basis.

Students need reliable headphones to use these accommodations without disrupting class. We have gathered equipment from various sources, but we still lack enough headphones for every classroom, and some of our current headphones are worn, causing audio interruptions.

This campaign will supply durable headphones. We will replace broken equipment in the resource room and supply headphones to all eighth-grade general education and elective classrooms, ensuring that every student has immediate access to the tools they need for classwork and assessments.

How This Project Helps Students:

* Enhances accessibility by providing immediate, respectful read-aloud features for assignments and assessments.

* Promotes independence by enabling students with a wide range of learning needs to do their tests and assignments on their own without disrupting their fellow students.

* Provides the necessary resources so teachers don't have to borrow or share equipment that sometimes malfunctions.
