Circle of Friends Outing

Circle of Friends is an organization that utilizes peer mediated intervention to train typically developing peers to implement behavioral interventions and facilitate positive social skills development in special needs populations. The Irving Circle of Friends group is requesting funds to facilitate an outing for our Circle of Friends students. Previously successful outings for the Irving Circle of Friends club included going out to eat at Village Inn (and practicing table manners and social skills), going bowling (and practicing social skills including turn taking), and going to see a movie in the theater (practicing theater etiquette and social skills). We would use the Circle of Friends outing funds to continue this tradition by providing funding for all Circle of Friends club members to attend these outings. The funds raised would go to pay for students' admission to bowling and/or students' meals at a restaurant and/or students' admission to a movie theater. We are anticipating around 20 students to participate in these outings. Requesting $300 plus cost reimbursement. 

Dear donors,

Thank you for your support of Irving's Circle of Friends group. We are planning to use the funds this week, to take our Circle of Friends members out to eat at Valentino's Buffet. This event will allow our members to practice the skills of engaging in conversations and using appropriate table manners while eating. Any leftover funds will be used to fund a similar outing for our member in the spring semester.
