About this Campaign
The preschool classrooms at Elliott would like to add some furniture to our dramatic play center in order to engage the students in Curriculum specific play. In Early Childhood our curriculum will engage with students by deepening their understanding of a specific topic in their environment. This year we will begin the Clothing Study. Students will learn where clothes come from, the different names for articles of clothing, and how to care for our clothes. They will experiment with cloth creation techniques and learn from people who make clothes. This is a great opportunity for our students to share a part of their culture with us as we discuss the clothing that is worn for celebrations and everyday in the various cultures in our classroom.
Preschool students learn best through play, so teachers are dedicated to creating engaging and educational learning experiences in the various areas of our classroom. In the dramatic play area, we would like to add a washer and dryer playset. We would use this playset to further expand the play schemes students are using in the classroom, helping children work together and practice turning taking. Some cognitive skills supported include sorting items ( clothing) by color and then by type of item, fine motor skills of hanging on line and pre-reading skills of following picture directions to start a load of laundry.
We would love your support for enriching our students classroom environment. Thank you for your consideration. Requesting $200 plus cost reimbursement.
