About this Campaign

Offering Uke Can Do It! at West Lincoln will foster a relationship building community of cooperative and student based learning. These 30 instruments would create a space for students to gain skills as a life long learner, while having access to an instrument that promotes engaging music making opportunities through various music genres.

Programming would take students through the basics of the instrument -- how to sit with a ukulele, how to hold a ukulele, what it looks like to strum a ukulele, names of the 4 strings, and tuning each string. Students would then begin playing 4 basic chords and work with a major scale. As students progress programming would begin to allow for more student input and create a structure where students are able to choose the songs they play utilizing previous learned knowledge.

Habits of Mind will be referenced throughout the students' musical journey. Uke Can Do It! will allow for students to positively see obstacles they face while learning an instrument and know that failure happens and how to overcome adversity and persevere. Requesting $2,000 plus cost reimbursement.

Uke Can Do It! will offer students a vocabulary of positively phrased thinking to enhance idea of becoming a life long learner, performer, singer, supporter, and consumer of music.

Our students would like to share their own gratitude with a Thank You Collage slideshow.  Each class prepared their "Thank You Collage" while learning how to express being grateful through music.
