Expanding Music Experiences at Elliott Elementary!

Elliott Elementary is a Title I school in the heart of Lincoln, NE. The students, families, and staff at Elliott are passionate about education. Elliott's minority student enrollment is 74% and our families speak 23 different languages. A number of our families have moved to the United States within the last 3 years.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said, "Music is the universal language of mankind". Music education at Elliott allows for all students to connect and communicate, no matter what language they speak. Our music classroom would greatly benefit from having two Orff Sub-Contra Bass bars, one pitched to C, and one pitched to D. Right now, there are times where we do not have enough instruments for all students to participate in class. Adding these two instruments to our classroom would not only increase opportunities for participation, but it would greatly enhance sound projection, experience, and allow students to internalize a steady beat!

Over the last two years our general music specialist, Miss Acosta,  has had the privilege of attaining her Orff Level I and II certification and was able to experience what a difference having Sub-Contra Bass bars has in the classroom music making experience and want our own Elliott scholars to experience that as well!

We are asking for $1,200 plus cost reimbursement to purchase these two Sub-Contra Bass bars for our music classroom. We greatly appreciate your consideration and donations so we can help all students connect and learn through music.
