Instrument Carts for the Elementary Music Classroom | Elliott Elementary

Hello! My name is Aracely Acosta and I am the K-5 General Music Specialist at Elliott Elementary. Elliott Elementary is a Title 1 school in the heart of Lincoln, NE. Our students, families, and staff at our school are passionate about education. Together, our families speak 22 different languages from around the world! Over the past three years, I have attained my Orff-Schulwerk Certification for levels 1 and 2, and am excited to continue to finally finish my level 3. I have been eternally grateful for what my Orff courses have taught me and how much I’ve been able to implement into my classroom – one of those being our Orff Instruments (Xylophones and Glockenspiels) and providing us with the ability to create new music together!

In our music classroom, our Orff Instruments have to sit out on the floor all year long to where students also have to sit on the floor to play instruments. This can be an uncomfortable and many times an inaccessible way for students to perform comfortably. I am asking for $3,510, plus cost reimbursement, to purchase 12 stands and 3 tables to set instruments on. These would all be on wheels, which would help facilitate transition time, mobility, and accessibility around our classroom. Having our instruments on carts would allow our students to move them with ease and prevent accidents that could potentially injure a student or damage our instruments from being on the floor.
