Stand Up & Write: Fueling Active Learning at Elliott

Help us equip our classrooms with flexible seating that transforms every desk into a whiteboard!

Elliott Elementary is a Title 1 school in the heart of Lincoln, NE. The students, families, and staff at Elliott are passionate about education. Elliott's minority student enrollment is 74% and our families speak 23 different languages. A number of our families have moved to the United States within the last 3 years.

Our school has a goal of 100% of students being on track to graduate and we know learning works best when students are active, not passive. Traditional seating can sometimes lead to wiggles and disengagement. Our school improvement goal is to deepen student learning through writing to learn—getting ideas out on paper (or in this case, on the desk!).

We are raising $5,790 plus the cost of reimbursement for Flexible Whiteboard Seating. These unique desks allows students to stand, move, collaborate, and most importantly, write directly on their desk surface with a dry-erase marker! This immediate, tactile connection between thought and creation boosts engagement, critical thinking, and skill mastery.
