Lux Middle School Jazz Band and D'Lux Singers Elementary Tour 2019

  The Lux Middle School 8th Grade Jazz Band and the 8th Grade D'Lux Singers would like to share their music outside of Lux Middle School. The Jazz Band is comprised of dedicated and hardworking students that rehearse once per week at 7:00 in the morning, and the D'Lux Singers are talented singers and dancers that rehearse during the school day.
  With this, we'd like to take a Spring tour to Maxey and Pyrtle elementary schools on May 14th. There would be approximately 65 students sharing their talents with others during this tour. With the volume of students and amount of equipment we need to bring, we need to use a bus for transportation, and could use some help in funding the bus.
  Our goals for this tour include: Providing more performance opportunities for these music students, teaching the students about the responsibility of carrying/setting up equipment and the teamwork that goes with it, generating excitement among the elementary students that may lead them to be a part of their school music program in the future, giving the students an opportunity to be great representatives of their school through appropriate interactions with each other and their audience, and providing a cultural experience for everyone through diverse musical repertoire. Requesting $397 plus additional fees (total is $452.68).

Mr. Holloman and Mrs. Nelson cannot thank the donors enough for their generosity in helping to make this tour happen.  We are so lucky to have such supportive parents/family/friends of our hard-working students.  The tour went as smooth as can be!  The students were extremely well-behaved and performed to the best of their ability.  It was a joy for us to watch the students perform for the elementary students and teachers.  We know that our students had a very positive experience, and it's opportunities like this that motivate them to continue developing their music skills for performances in the future.  We were so proud of the way they all lent a helping hand in terms of carrying equipment and helping to quickly set up the ensembles.  Also, it was fun to watch them interact with each other and the students/teachers at the elementary schools.  We are so lucky to have such wonderful students!  Please know that your donations not only provided a learning experience for the middle and elementary school students, but it also sparked joy in their lives as we closed out the 2018-19 school year!  Thank you so much for helping to make this happen!
