About this Campaign
In need of a diverse selection of multicultural books for student use. I want to purchase books that represent the make-up of the student body of this school so that students can read books that reflect their own cultures. In addition, I want to include in my classroom books by authors from diverse backgrounds. Students need to feel represented in the literature they read. These books will provide a sense of belonging while also building a community where students can learn about each other's cultures.
Lefler is a Title 1 school with a diverse population of students. Of the 573 students, 8 are American Indian/Alaska Native, 31 are Asian, 58 are Black/African American, 77 are Hispanic, 79 identify 2 or more races, and 319 are Middle Eastern/White.
Requesting $750 to purchase 30-45 new books.
