About this Campaign
Two hundred eighth graders at Lefler Middle School will read primary sources in the form of journal entries by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark and other members of the Corps of Discovery to learn about a specific part of the journey west. Students will also research the Native nation the Corps met at that point of the journey. After completing the research, students will tell the story through a scrapbook which will include a look at the Native people met, trading that took place, animals and plants they learned about and much more. All of this will be told through quotes from the primary sources and analysis by students. To complete the scrapbook, students will use a variety of art supplies - scrapbook paper, water color paints, felts, fabric, sharpies, feathers, beads, and sticks. The scrapbooks will be shown off when parents, guardians and family members come to school to view the books and have students explain their work. Requesting $300 plus cost reimbursement for scrapbook supplies.
