About this Campaign
At Irving Middle School we have two 8th Grade Fundamentals of Strength classes. In these classes the students learn the basics of weight lifting. They perform different workouts in class every day focusing on strength, movement and mobility.
Our students do an amazing job during class pushing themselves out of their comfort zone to improve and become stronger. I am able to control how active they are during class, but I wanted to go a step further and encourage students to be more active outside of school as well.
This year I created the "Weekend Challenge" for the students in our Strength Classes. This is an opportunity for students to complete some sort of physical challenge over the weekend. The goal is for them to live a healthier lifestyle at home, this includes encouraging those around them to be more active as well!
Some of this money would help fund prizes for students who complete these challenges. Each student who brings in a signed slip on Mondays will receive a prize. After five completed challenges they will receive a larger prize and then the count restarts.
I believe by being able to provide small prizes our students will be more motivated to complete these challenges over the weekend. Our kids are really excited about involving their families in fitness at home. With your help I believe we can really improve students health and wellbeing outside of school!
The rest of this money will go towards new equipment or replacing old or broken equipment. For example, we would love to add a few more sets of dumbbells to our weight room along with some new bands. This equipment is expensive so any amount helps!
Thank you,
Irving Strength Class
