LPS Fund a Need for Irving Intramural Athletics

Athletic Directors: Robyn Okamoto and Grayson Vaughn

Irving Middle School Intramural Athletics is looking to improve the experience provided for all student athletes through improving the equipment that all athletes are able to use. We are currently fundraising to assist in replenishing consumable supplies, in addition to purchasing items that will improve the quality of practices and overall student experience. We are requesting $2,848.79 plus cost reimbursement!

The sports that Irving currently sponsors in intramural sports are:

• Volleyball
• Cross Country
• Soccer
• Girls Basketball
• Wrestling
• Boys Basketball
• Track & Field

Athletics at IMS has a philosophy of developing athletes first, and results come second, so they are best prepared for being an athlete in high school. The method this is implemented is through:

• Monitoring student grades, and only allowing participation if they are academically eligible
• Holding athletes accountable for their behavior in class
• Giving balanced, prepared playing time to all athletes on a team
• Prioritizing skills and knowledge of the game(s) over plays and schemes

Through fundraising, Irving Intramurals is hoping to replenish and replace items that are annually consumed, worn, or in need of replacement. These items include:

• Medical kit supplies
• Balls for soccer, volleyball, and basketball
• Consumable items like mat tape/cleaner and mops for wrestling, field paint for soccer and track & field
• Playing equipment for athletes: knee pads for volleyball, shin guards and goalie gloves for soccer
• Practice equipment: soccer goals/nets, basketball nets, and new high jump standards for track & field
