About this Campaign
At Lincoln Public Schools, we believe physical education is fundamental to building lifelong health, confidence, and independence. This school year, we are launching an exciting district-wide initiative: ensuring that 100% of Lincoln Public Schools students learn how to ride a bicycle by the time they leave 1st Grade.
To achieve this goal, LPS Physical Education is working with the All Kids Bike® Program, a nationally recognized, evidence-based curriculum designed to safely teach young children how to ride a bike during standard PE classes.
Learning to ride a bike is a landmark milestone of childhood. Beyond the sheer joy it brings, biking enhances motor skills, spatial awareness, physical health, and self-esteem. By embedding bike riding directly into our Elementary Physical Education Grade Level Outcomes, it supports every child, regardless of background, family resources, or prior experience will receiving equal access to this crucial life skill.
What the All Kids Bike Fleet Includes
To equip our elementary schools, each participating school receives a complete, durable, multi-year program package from All Kids Bike, consisting of:
24 Strider® Balance-to-Pedal Bicycles: High-quality, adjustable bikes that transition seamlessly from balance bikes (no pedals) to full pedal bikes as students gain confidence.
24 Pedal Conversion Kits: Easy-to-install pedal kits used when students master balance.
24 Fully Adjustable Helmets: Ensuring safety is taught and practiced from day one.
2 Heavy-Duty Metal Storage Racks: To keep equipment organized and secure inside the school.
SHAPE America-Aligned Curriculum & Teacher Training: Comprehensive certification for our PE teachers and ongoing support to ensure program sustainability for years to come.
Each All Kids Bike equipment kit is a long-term investment and will be able to teach thousands of students over its lifespan.
When you support this campaign, you are not just buying bikes, you are investing in the health of your community through active transport and developing the personal confidence of every young learner in Lincoln.
How You Can Partner With Us
We are seeking funding partners to help us bring this transformational program to every elementary school in Lincoln Public Schools.
As a funding partner, your organization will be recognized across district communications, social media campaigns, and local school unveilings as a champion for Lincoln’s youth and youth fitness in our community.
Together, we can ensure every child in Lincoln experiences the freedom, health benefits, and joy that come on two wheels. Currently, the district is in need of 20 bike kits, but will be seeking funds one kit at a time. One kit will serve two schools, which will trade the kit back and forth between semesters to get the most benefit from this resource.
Thank you for your commitment to the health and future of Lincoln’s children!
