About this Campaign
A new Yamaha euphonium (baritone) costs $1,330.00. This is a lower brass instrument with three valves and supports the bottom sound of the band. This dollar amount would be over 75% of my yearly budget. Euphoniums are slow to update the inventory without sacrificing the upgrade in other sections. I have purchased flutes, clarinets, saxes, trumpets, and percussion in the last six years but not euphoniums due to the cost.
Our current euphonium/baritone inventory is old and are from the 1960's and 1970's, with a few cheap/newer ones that had valve recalls in the 1990's, but these valves have not been replaced, and they are out of warranty. We are currently borrowing from Dawes Middle school to meet the needs for this instrument.
Any assistance you can offer in acquiring an euphonium will be greatly appreciated as we continue to build a great band program at Goodrich. Requesting $1,330 plus cost reimbursement.
We have earned Superior Ratings for the past five years. We have had seven 8th Grade All-State Champions during this time, one of them was a baritone player. Dr. Lance Nielsen has commented on our improved discipline and sense of pride on stage. I hope to continue this vision of success with our Goodrich students and meet the needs of our students with a new euphonium.
Update - Oct 12th, 2021 at 10:10PM
We are excited about the donation made by MarySue Harris so that we can purchase the new Yamaha Euphonium for Goodrich Middle School band program. We have started several new euphonium players this year and this support shown through the generosity of MarySue is very timely as we don't want students sharing instruments during the Covid pandemic. This donation will then help keep students safe and stay in band, with the hopes students will continue making music in high school and college. Thank you again for your generosity, it is greatly appreciated.
