About this Campaign

Hartley Elementary is in need of short chapter books to supplement our reading series. With the State of Nebraska's emphasis on reading proficiency by Grade 3, our students are in need of sets of approaching, on-level and above grade level chapter books. Our students would benefit from access to high-interest leveled chapter books that encourages reading longer and appealing books. Our current book room contains hundreds of books that meet the needs of Kindergarten through Grade 2, but few books for Grades 3-5. This Grant would provide money for a committee of teachers, including the media specialist to select and purchase several sets of seven to eight copies of the same book, to use in a small group setting. Our school goal is to increase reading fluency. Please consider helping us meet this goal by providing the funds necessary to purchase ability-appropriate chapter books. Requesting $800 plus cost reimbursement.

Examples of books:

Wayside School, Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlottes Web, Planet Omar, Alvin, Mercy Watson, EllRay Jakes, Me and the Sky, Cam Jansen, Clean Getaway, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Shilo, etc...
