About this Campaign
Charles Culler School (“Culler Middle School” or “Culler”) humbly requests assistance in the revitalization of our school auditorium.
By way of background, Charles Culler School first opened its doors in 1958 as a combination junior high and elementary school. The initial enrollment was 285 students. From 1963 to 1993 Culler was a junior high school with grades seven, eight, and nine. In 1993 Culler became the middle school we know today for grades six, seven, and eight. Current enrollment at Culler is approximately 720 students.
Culler Middle School is the home of the Culler Cougars; a minority majority Title I middle school in the Lincoln Public School district. It is a privilege of ours that, with the help of our caring staff, we serve a diverse community of students and parents. The Culler staff works to embody the full service community school model, partnering with our lead agency, the Malone Center. We are a community rich in diversity, experiences, and perspectives.
Culler Middle School has an unbelievably dedicated and caring staff who work to collaborate for the improvement of our students. Our school improvement mission states that by using research-based instructional strategies, all students will improve achievement across all content areas. Culler is known for its willingness to pilot many initiatives and strategies. As a result, the staff is highly flexible, adaptive and collaborative and oftentimes, at the forefront of educational initiatives.
Given the dedication of our teachers and staff, we are looking forward to utilizing the auditorium again for staff development. This space is severely underutilized, majority in part from the acoustics within; it is near impossible to hear someone speak from the front of the stage no matter where you happen to be sitting within the auditorium.
This leads me to our student need for our auditorium revitalization. Culler Middle School has incredibly talented students, and each year our school hosts a student talent show - our “Fall Variety Show.” This year we had over 100 students that participated! Each and every student’s talent was so unique and special, however, not one student was heard all night. Not one audience member was able to hear all of the wonderful performances from these students that so bravely displayed their talents.
This space is due for a necessary upgrade for our students and our staff, and we graciously ask for your donations and investment in their educational and professional development. Requesting $8,000 plus cost reimbursement.
